Rainwater is caught on the roof
Water is caught off the roof, stored in large tanks below the house and pumped to a smaller water tank behind the house. It’s heated by solar power or the wetback wood stove. And if all else fails, a small gas powered water heater will give the water temperature a boost. Basically, XSPOT Beach House is modern sustainable off grid holidaying impersonated.

The views to the beach and the ocean beyond can be enjoyed from two queen bedrooms with a bathroom each. These separate sleeping areas have a kitchen-lounge area in between. Sliding doors provide access to the decks – sunny in front, more shady at the back.
The house was designed to be perfect for a holiday with your loved one, friends or kids. And for longer stays, there is a laundry with a washing machine for your cold washes.
Close to Claris and Tryphena, the walking track and the stars
Claris, home to the airfield, Claris Store and eateries is only a ten minute drive, shuttle or hitch hike away from this Great Barrier Island beach house. Similarly, the shops and cafes of Tryphena after a ten minute drive in the other direction. And closer still, the Kowhai – Station Rock loop walk is right out the front for avid trampers. The XSPOT Beach House is also centrally located for access to the Aotea Track and the plethora of other island walks.
